Siegwerk Acquires Allinova to Boost Sustainable Packaging Offerings

Siegwerk, a leading global provider of printing inks and coatings, has reached a significant milestone in its expansion strategy. The company has signed a contract to acquire Allinova, a specialty chemicals company, further extending its reach into papermill and film manufacturing operations.

Siegwerk's acquisition of Allinova is a strategic move that builds on its April 2024 establishment of a new global business unit dedicated to functional coatings for sustainable packaging innovations. Allinova, with its high technical competence in water-based dispersions, will bolster Siegwerk's offerings in this area.

In line with this focus on sustainability, Siegwerk has previously introduced its nitrocellulose (NC) free ink series for surface printing on polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) packaging solutions. This innovation meets packaging design guidelines from RecyClass and CEFLEX, promoting a circular economy.

The acquisition of Allinova by Siegwerk is set to strengthen the company's position in the functional coatings market for sustainable packaging. With Allinova's expertise in water-based dispersions and Siegwerk's commitment to innovation, the combined entity will be well-placed to drive progress towards a circular economy in the packaging industry.
