Smart device count surpasses 600,000 marks within MTS's digital network, specifically in the Krasnodar region.
Krasnodar Region Leads in M2M Device Adoption, Second Only to Moscow
The Krasnodar region, situated in southern Russia, ranks second in the country for the adoption of Machine-to-Machine (M2M) devices, trailing behind Moscow. In terms of sectors with the highest demand for M2M technology, housing and communal services, as well as the energy industry, rank at the top.
According to recent data, the annual growth rate of M2M devices within the region's networks exceeds 20%. The fastest growth has been observed in courier services, car-sharing, and bike-sharing. Agriculture, meanwhile, experiences an annual growth of around 10% for smart devices. Modern agri-complexes utilize M2M technology for animal monitoring, soil control, automated feeding, irrigation, aerial photography, and field mapping. In the past year, there has been a twofold increase in requests for devices used for eco-monitoring in the energy, industrial, and agricultural sectors.
Housing and communal services, resource-supplying organizations — both in the energy and water-gas supply sectors — represent major industries for the use of digital devices. These applications primarily involve data collection and the accounting of final users. Logistics companies also feature prominently, with transport monitoring as one of their main areas of implementation. The top industries are rounded out by the management of urban infrastructure, including smart city and safe city projects. This includes remote control and coordination of traffic lights, management of street lighting, transmission of information from CCTV cameras, and fare payment through POS terminals.
"Solutions that started the internet of things more than ten years ago - in payment terminals and transport monitoring - are not only still relevant but are experiencing a digital renaissance. The integration of machine-to-machine interaction technology allows new businesses and human activity sectors to emerge, freeing resources for the solution of more complex tasks while digital devices take on routine duties," noted Elena Usenko, Director of MTS in the Krasnodar region for corporate clients.
The Enrichment Data provide insights into the trends and applications of M2M devices within various sectors. In housing and communal services, smart metering and smart home systems are prevalent. Within the energy sector, smart grids and renewable energy monitoring are common, while agriculture employs precision farming techniques and livestock monitoring. Logistics industries rely on supply chain management and fleet management, and smart city projects leverage traffic management and public safety enhancements through M2M devices.
