Solana meme token Ponke unveils soft, cuddly plush toy as the initial offering in a series of collectibles
Ponke, the 69th largest meme coin by market capitalization, is set to launch a plush toy of its monkey mascot on Wednesday for $69. The toy, designed to be interactive, will feature an NFC chip, removable accessories, and magnets, blending digital and physical collectibles.
The plush toy will be available on the 223 site at 1pm ET on Wednesday. It is part of Ponke's partnership with 223, a spinout venture of licensed accessories giant JCorp, which Ponke attended at the Las Vegas Licensing Expo alongside other JCorp global IPs.
In addition to the plush toy, Ponke has planned an expanded product line and strategic collaborations. These include streetwear collaborations and cannabis-themed items as part of its physical merchandise expansion.
Early access to the plush toy will be given to members of Club Ponke chat, owners of the Ponke day-one Telegram sticker pack, and mailing list subscribers an hour earlier. Purchasers of the Ponke plush toy will be granted early access to future Ponke collectible sales.
Moreover, the project plans to distribute the toy in a retail store later this year. Looty.fi, a crypto loot box site partnered with Ponke, will also offer a raffle ticket with the plush toy.
Cole Gurman, president of 223, said Ponke is part of a new generation of digitally-native meme IPs primed to leap from online culture into physical retail. Ponke's team claims that its content has amassed over 2 billion views across Instagram and TikTok.
The project is exploring ways to provide rewards and benefits to stakers at its Solana validator and plush holders. Beyond the plush toy launch, Ponke aims to grow through additional physical collectibles, collaborations with major brands, integration of interactive NFT technology in physical items, and reinvesting merch revenue into broader physical expansion initiatives.
In a statement, a Ponke representative claimed "future partnerships" were secured during the Las Vegas Licensing Expo. The next product is likely to be a blind box collectible in partnership with an irreverent streetwear brand. A cannabis product partnership is also in the works for Ponke.
