Taking Virtual Production to the Next Level: Introducing Sony's Crystal LED CAPRI

In an electrifying move ahead of InfoComm 2025, Sony Electronics' Rich Ventura, vice president of Professional Display Solutions, and Jason Metcalfe, business manager of Crystal LED, unveiled the expansion of Sony's LED display family with the launch of the Crystal LED CAPRI. This latest innovation aims to revolutionize virtual production, making it more accessible than ever.

Sony Electronics Inc. has upped its LED wall game with the launch of the Crystal LED CAPRI. The new CAPRI series boasts a maximum brightness of 1,500 cd/m, with a 2.50mm LED pitch size. Here are some key features that set the CAPRI series apart:

  • High Refresh Rates and Brightness: The CAPRI displays boast high refresh rates and an impressive brightness, ensuring lifelike images that are free from scanline artifacts for a smooth, fluid viewing experience.
  • Wide Color Gamut and Anti-Reflection: With coverage of over 98% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, the displays accurately reproduce vibrant, lifelike images. The new models also feature anti-reflection capabilities to minimize the impact of reflection from lighting equipment.
  • Installation Flexibility: The latest CAPRI series takes advantage of recent installation advancements to ensure fast and efficient setup. The displays can be configured in a variety of ways, including stacked, hung, curved, or oval installation.
  • Streamlined Maintenance: The CAPRI's modular nature allows for easy maintenance, with LED module blocks that can be changed from the rear and status indication lights for quickly identifying which blocks need service.

The CAPRI series is compatible with both the Brompton controller and the Megapixel controller, ensuring seamless integration with the industry's standard virtual production ecosystems.

Targeted towards a broad range of customers, the CAPRI series offers reliable, high-quality support for virtual production applications, including television, feature films, commercials, and broadcast, as well as rental and staging purposes. It complements Sony's premium flagship Crystal LED VERONA, offering high-quality virtual production at a more accessible price.

The CAPRI series is set to be available this winter, with a sample on display at InfoComm 2025 in Orlando at Sony's booth, 2001, from June 11-13.

Rich Ventura, vice president of Professional Display Solutions at Sony Electronics, comments, "With the announcement of CAPRI, Sony is furthering our commitment to the creation of Spatial Content by giving a wider range of users opportunities for flexibly showcasing images in high fidelity. We've broadened our lineup to offer more cost-conscious choices, which expand the market in support of high-quality virtual production at every level and ensure the growth of Sony's distinctive virtual production ecosystem."
