South Korea, OpenAI Launch Major AI Partnership

On October 1, high-level representatives from OpenAI, Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, and Kakao met at the presidential office in Seoul to discuss the project. The meeting, attended by President Lee Jae Myung, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Samsung Electronics Executive Chairman Lee Jae-yong, and SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, marked the beginning of a strategic partnership.
OpenAI, the leading AI research organization, plans to work closely with Samsung and SK Hynix on semiconductor procurement. This collaboration is part of OpenAI's Stargate initiative, aiming to build two AI data centers in South Korea. The data centers will support OpenAI's research and development efforts, ensuring the country plays a crucial role in the global AI landscape.
In addition, Kakao, South Korea's leading chat-app provider, will partner with OpenAI to develop AI products tailored to the Korean market. This collaboration will enable Kakao to integrate advanced AI features into its services, enhancing user experience and competitiveness.
