SpaceX has reached a significant milestone, launching its Falcon 9 rocket 125 times this year. The latest mission, on October 3, 2025, carried 28 Starlink satellites from Vandenberg Space Force Base, marking the second launch and landing for the booster B1097.

Starlink satellites now account for two-thirds of all functional satellites in orbit, according to the European Space Agency. This dominance is a result of SpaceX's dedication, with over 70% of Falcon 9 launches in 2025 focused on expanding the Starlink constellation. The first stage of the Falcon 9 rocket successfully returned to Earth, landing on the SpaceX droneship 'Of Course I Still Love You'.

With over 8,500 active Starlink satellites currently orbiting Earth, the latest batch was deployed into low Earth orbit around an hour after launch. The identity of the SpaceX employee or team responsible for the design of booster B1097 remains unknown, as search results did not provide this information.

SpaceX's relentless pace of launches has brought the total number of Falcon 9 missions to 125 this year. The recent Starlink mission demonstrates the company's commitment to expanding broadband internet access via satellite, with Starlink satellites now outnumbering those of any other constellation. The successful return and landing of the booster also highlights SpaceX's proficiency in reusable rocket technology.
