SMPTE Appoints New Standards Vice President

The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) has announced a new addition to its leadership team. Raymond Yeung, a renowned industry expert with extensive experience in digital effects, film mastering, and HDR imaging development, has been appointed as the vice president of standards.

SMPTE President Richard Welsh expressed his delight at the appointment, believing that Yeung's expertise and experience will be valuable in driving innovation for the standards community. He expressed his eagerness to work with Yeung in his new role.

Yeung, who is a SMPTE Life Fellow and a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, currently serves as the head of content standards at Amazon MGM Studios Technology. He joined the HDR imaging development effort at Dolby Laboratories in 2021.

In his new role, Yeung plans to use his experience as a SMPTE standards director and Technology Committee 35PM chair to drive innovation for the standards community. He will remain in the standards VP role until the end of the year.
