Superior to Trains and Cars in Efficiency?

In an innovative move towards sustainable aviation, the startup FlyV, founded by Tomislav Lang, is shaking up the industry. As reported by Bavarian Radio, FlyV thinks green and is making waves in the air travel sector.

FlyV's services are accessible through their user-friendly app or website, offering cancellable flights across Germany. The company behind this eco-friendly airline is FlyV Airlines, which has already established a presence at Hof Airport. Flights with FlyV Airlines from as little as 229 euros are available at Hof Airport.

The small aircraft used by FlyV, such as the Cessna Caravan C208 or Tecnam P2012 Traveller, can accommodate up to 9 passengers, similar to a private jet. Ralf Kaußler, head of Hof Airport, supports this approach, stating that it sets a mark as an industry for reviving and making regional air traffic sustainable.

FlyV prides itself on having 40 percent less CO2 emissions than car and train journeys. This commitment to sustainability is reflected in their policy of only starting flights if at least three passengers book. Hof Airport's website further confirms that FlyV uses modern, environmentally friendly aircraft offering reduced CO2 output.

The concept of FlyV may potentially spread further, allowing the airline to fly not only within Germany but also throughout Europe in the future. At the beginning of September, FlyV started their innovative concept at Hof Airport, offering on-demand flights to various airports including Frankfurt-Egelsbach, Augsburg, Mönchengladbach, Hamburg, and Berlin-Strausberg.

FlyV describes itself as the most efficient mode of transport compared to car and train, not only faster but also sometimes cheaper. The airline is tracking the development of electric aircraft to enable emission-free flying in the future.

Until the 2000s, holiday flights to the Mediterranean started from Hof, and there was a subsidized scheduled service to Frankfurt until 2012. Since then, Hof Airport has been in operation due to private aircraft owners and regional companies chartering aircraft.

A flight from Friedrichshafen to Berlin with FlyV would be significantly faster than the journey by car or train, and cheaper than the car journey if the aircraft is fully occupied. With FlyV, regional air travel in Germany is becoming more accessible and sustainable.
