Sustainable Strategy for Data Centre Architecture
A Comprehensive 2-Day Green Data Center Design Course
EB Publishing has announced a two-day green data center design course, aimed at providing participants with a deep understanding of environmental sustainability standards, energy efficiency metrics, and green certification requirements specific to Singapore.
The course covers a range of topics, including the Green Mark for New and Existing Data Centers, and offers detailed modules on SS564, a Singapore Standard for Environmental Sustainability for Data Centers.
Day 1: Foundations and Fundamentals
The first day of the course begins with an overview of data centers and the importance of green design. Participants will learn about the purpose and environmental impact of data centers, as well as the business drivers for sustainability in this sector.
Next, the course delves into green data center standards and guidelines. Participants will be introduced to SS564, with a focus on its scope, key requirements for new and existing data centers, and energy efficiency, water efficiency, and environmental impact criteria. The course also covers the BCA Green Mark for Data Centres, explaining its certification categories, scoring system, and integration with other standards such as ISO 50001 and LEED.
The day continues with a focus on power usage effectiveness (PUE) and other efficiency metrics. Participants will learn how to calculate PUE, understand its categories and benchmarks for green certification, and explore other efficiency metrics like Data Center Infrastructure Efficiency (DCIE) and Carbon Usage Effectiveness (CUE).
The day concludes with a session on assessment and audit procedures. Participants will learn how to conduct environmental and energy audits in data centers, and understand the documentation and reporting processes for certification.
Day 2: Design, Retrofitting, and Implementation
The second day of the course focuses on design principles for green data centers, retrofitting existing data centers, and operational best practices. Participants will learn about cooling design aligned with energy efficiency goals, power infrastructure design to minimize losses, and the use of renewable energy sources and energy recovery systems.
The day also includes a session on retrofitting existing data centers, discussing strategies to improve energy and environmental performance in existing facilities, and presenting case studies of successful retrofitting projects.
The course concludes with a focus on compliance with SS564 and Green Mark requirements. Participants will receive a detailed walkthrough of technical checklists and performance targets, and learn about the documentation and process for certification submission.
The course also covers operational best practices, including continuous monitoring and improvement, maintenance, and staff training for sustainability goals.
Throughout the course, participants will have the opportunity to participate in workshops and case studies, applying their newfound knowledge to sample scenarios and engaging in group discussions on design challenges, compliance, and sustainability optimization.
EB Publishing's platform allows users to reach those who matter to them, making this course an excellent opportunity for professionals in the data center industry to expand their knowledge and skills in green data center design.
Data-and-cloud-computing technology plays a crucial role in the green data center design course, as participants will learn about energy-efficient designs, power usage effectiveness (PUE), and the Singapore Standard for Environmental Sustainability for Data Centers (SS564).
Furthermore, the use of technology is essential in the course's practical sessions, where participants apply their newfound knowledge to sample scenarios and engage in group discussions, utilizing the EB Publishing's platform to enhance their learning experience.
