NEWSDESK.IO. The final of the 13th International Engineering Challenge, CASE-IN, unfolded in Moscow on May 30. YATEK, a major strategy partner in the "Oil and Gas" segment, brought a unique educational experience to future engineers for the fifth time.

More than 6,000 students from 81 universities across Russia and CIS countries battled it out in the Student League selection. This season was themed around "Pioneering Innovations."

Expert minds from YATEK crafted a case called "Mini LNG - Economics Analysis for Yakutia's Cruel Climate." Students tackled a task relevant to the republic, focusing on the implementation of small-scale LNG production technology in extreme northern conditions.

After wrapping up their projects, finalists snagged internships and hands-on practice at YATEK facilities. Top performers stand a chance at landing a job.

Nikolai Timofeev, an expert from YATEK's training and personnel development department, shared his thoughts on the case. "The 'Mini LNG' case showcases how practical knowledge and economic modeling can tackle real-world engineering and management tasks in the heart of the Far North. YATEK's involvement in CASE-IN contributes to the professional growth, honing analytical skills of the participants in challenging geographical and economic environments," he noted.

During the tournament's opening ceremony, Timofeev joined the hallowed halls of the CASE-IN Championship for his long-term contributions to the project.

Apart from the cut-throat competitions, YATEK's career zone piqued the interest of championship guests. There, visitors could learn more about the company's ventures. The industrial trivia quiz and the "Reassemble the Map of Yakutia" puzzle were hits among the attendees. Students and young specialists engaged enthusiastically in interactive activities and snagged prizes. Vasilyena "Ulan" Sharina even performed for the Case-In crew and guests, a thoughtful gift from YATEK, brimming with passion, power, and genuine artistry.

Winners of the "Oil and Gas" industry event were the MODA team from the Kogalym Educational Center and the "We'll Think of It Later" team from St. Petersburg Mining University. First place and an all-expenses-paid trip to Yakutia went to the Energy ELITE squad from Tomsk Polytechnic University.

Participating in the YATEK case was a formidable challenge and an unforgettable experience for us. Our solution centered around implementing small-scale LNG technology for powering remote areas. We can't wait to journey to Yakutia – to witness its extraordinary wilderness and YATEK's production facilities up close. Thanks, YATEK, for this fantastic opportunity to be part of such an impactful project! - shared the captain of the Energy ELITE team, Ilkhom Mukhamedov.

Behind the Scenes

The YATEK-backed "Mini LNG - Economics Analysis for Yakutia's Cruel Climate" case aims to explore the financial viability of a mini LNG project in the frigid wastes of Yakutia, taking into account specific challenges such as extreme cold, scarce infrastructure, and high transportation costs.

YATEK might belong to the energy sector, concentrating on natural gas or LNG projects. The CASE-IN Championship offers students and professionals a platform to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world problems.
