Tech Companies Rally Together to Support Wildfire Relief and Recovery in Cyprus

In the aftermath of the devastating wildfires in Cyprus, particularly in the Limassol mountain region, TechIsland has launched an initiative to provide relief and recovery efforts for affected families and communities. The response from the tech sector has been immense, with over 50 companies and several individuals pledging their support.

TechIsland's initiative focuses on three main areas: enhancing wildfire prevention and fire protection infrastructure, implementing early warning systems, and offering direct support to families impacted by the fires. One of the key initiatives is the launch of an AI-powered Telegram bot (@ember_eye_bot) that provides near real-time wildfire intelligence by analysing satellite data, weather conditions, air quality, and fire risk forecasts to inform the public and reduce panic.

Vitaly Avtaykin, Managing Director of RoboMarkets, expressed solidarity with those affected by the fire, offering support with both compassion and action. Alexey Gubarev, Co-founder and Board Member of TechIsland, emphasised the need for the private sector to demonstrate leadership and create lasting impact. Ugne Buraciene, Group CEO of payabl. and Board Member of TechIsland, expressed a deep responsibility to support the community in this time of need. The Chairman of TechIsland, Valentinos Polykarpou, stated that climate-driven threats require collective, sustained effort to strengthen Cyprus' resilience.

TechIsland is planning to allocate the raised funds through a private initiative focused on fire protection and prevention, monitoring and early warning, and meeting the immediate needs of affected communities.
