In the Krasnodar region of Russia, the Department for Juvenile Affairs at the Regional GU MVD has announced plans to enhance its preventive work by introducing financial literacy lessons and safety measures education in schools. This move aims to equip children with the necessary skills to navigate the complexities of the digital world and avoid falling victim to fraud.

Since the beginning of this year, over 5,000 reports of fraud have been received by the police in the Krasnodar region. Despite this alarming figure, the Department for Juvenile Affairs has reported no significant increase in fraud cases involving minors. This is contrary to the overall rise in IT crime, as the proportion of such crimes involving minors remains at 13%, which is 12% less than last year.

The preventive work will not only focus on financial literacy but also extend to educating children about safety measures when using social networks. Information about these safety measures will be disseminated at meetings and shared in parent chats to ensure a comprehensive approach.

The Department for Juvenile Affairs has also expressed readiness to allocate staff for this preventive work. Tatiana Abramenko, head of the department, stated, "We are ready to dedicate resources to ensure the safety and financial education of our youth."

Unfortunately, incidents of fraud are not uncommon. A recent case in Novorossiysk saw a 25-year-old resident hand over over 8 million rubles to scammers. The victim, acting on instructions from a voice over the phone, received a call supposedly from "Russian Post" and provided an SMS code to the scammers to receive a supposed incoming parcel.

In the Krasnodar region alone, victims have handed over more than 2 billion rubles to scammers during this period. These incidents underscore the importance of the preventive measures being put in place.

The department's efforts to combat IT crime extend beyond schools. They are also planning to conduct financial literacy lessons in various community settings to reach a wider audience.

While the exact changes in the proportion of IT crimes committed by minors in the Krasnodar region compared to last year could not be ascertained from the available information, the department has reported that IT crime involving minors accounts for 13% of the overall structure of IT crime.

For accurate and detailed information, it would be best to consult official reports from the Krasnodar regional GU MVD or local news sources. The department's commitment to the safety and financial education of children is commendable and a step in the right direction towards combating fraud in the region.

  1. Given the concerning rise in IT crime in the Krasnodar region, the Department for Juvenile Affairs is planning to introduce technology-focused educational programs in schools, such as financial literacy lessons and safety measures education, as part of their preventive work.
  2. Beyond schools, the Department for Juvenile Affairs also plans to conduct financial literacy lessons in various community settings to reach a wider audience and share important safety measures when using social networks, a critical aspect of digital-savvy education in the era of growing cybercrime.
