Tesla Motor's Multifunctional Dinery: Combining Supercharger Station, Eatery, and Drive-in
Tesla's "Restaurant of the Future" in Los Angeles Offers Unique EV Charging, Dining, and Entertainment Experience
Tesla has unveiled an innovative concept at its Los Angeles Supercharger station, merging rapid vehicle charging with a nostalgic yet futuristic dining and entertainment venue. The Tesla Diner, open to the public, is a 24/7 retro-futuristic diner that offers a variety of American comfort foods, serves as a drive-in cinema, and boasts advanced ordering conveniences integrated with Tesla vehicles.
The diner, dubbed as the "restaurant of the future," boasts over 80 V4 Supercharger stalls, making it the largest urban Tesla Supercharger lot in Los Angeles, compatible with all NACS standard EVs, not just Tesla vehicles. The diner's drive-in part consists of two large 66-foot LED walls, creating a drive-in theater ambiance, allowing customers to watch movies either from their cars or while dining on-site.
The full-service diner offers a menu filled with locally sourced options such as the Tesla Burger, priced around $13.50, Breakfast Tacos for $11, and a serving of fries with ketchup for $4. The Tesla Diner's movie schedule can be viewed on the touchscreen in the vehicle or inside the diner.
The diner's unique retro-futuristic design is inspired by Tesla’s Cybertruck, with a metal-clad two-story building housing indoor seating downstairs and an outdoor rooftop "Skypad" dining and theater area complete with bar and theater-style seating. Robotic servers and Cybertruck-themed food packaging ("Cybertruck boxes") enhance the futuristic yet retro diner theme.
Tesla merchandise, including Tesla Bot action figures, retro diner T-shirts, "Supercharged Gummies" candies, and themed hats, is available for purchase at the diner. The Tesla Diner serves as a gathering place for Tesla brand fans, offering a unique experience for EV drivers and general visitors alike.
Solar panels on the charging stations on the west side of the building are estimated to reduce the diner's CO2 emissions by approximately 12 million kilograms per year. The Skypad provides views of the city and features two large screens for watching movies.
By combining charging infrastructure with entertainment and hospitality, Tesla's LA Supercharger Diner aims to make the EV charging wait time an enjoyable social experience potentially replicable in other cities globally.
