The Volkswagen ID.3 Pro S01, equipped with a 77 kWh net-capacity battery, has proven its resilience and durability following a rigorous four-year durability test conducted by the ADAC, covering over 160,000 kilometers (approximately 99,400 miles).

The test, the first of its kind for an ID series model, subjected the ID.3 to challenging conditions, including frequent fast-charging and extended periods of parking with a fully charged battery. Despite these stressors, the vehicle performed admirably, with no technical defects found and no significant wear observed in the body, suspension, or steering after the test period.

A key highlight of the test was the battery's performance. The ID.3's battery retained 91% of its original capacity, significantly exceeding Volkswagen's warranty guarantee of 70% capacity after eight years or 160,000 km. This result underscores the battery's strong durability and longevity under demanding conditions.

During the test, the vehicle received software updates that improved charging performance and efficiency. At low temperatures between 0 and 5 degrees Celsius, the new software reduced energy consumption in the ID.3. The charging power of the ID.3 increased to up to 170 kW through these updates.

The ADAC strongly recommends installing these software updates in the ID.3 to optimize its performance and efficiency.

Martin Sander, Volkswagen's sales chief, stated that the results demonstrate the quality of their ID models even after many kilometers. The test's outcome boosts confidence in the ID.3's used value and reliability for long-term ownership.

The goal of the test was to objectively evaluate the high-voltage battery's durability and the overall quality of the ID.3. The ID.3 Pro S01's performance in this test confirms its status as an electric vehicle with high battery longevity and low degradation.
