Three intriguing unveilings at Reliance AGM 2023: Jio AirFiber, Jio Giga factory, and the Jio Bharat 5G phone.
During the Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) Annual General Meeting 2023, Chairman Mukesh Ambani unveiled a series of innovative plans and products, including the Jio AirFiber, Jio Bharat Phone, and a battery gigafactory.
Starting with Jio AirFiber, a cutting-edge 5G wireless internet service, RIL announced the launch of this service for both residential and commercial use. Set to debut on September 19th, 2023, Jio AirFiber is expected to deliver high-speed internet comparable to fiber-optic connections.
Impressively, RIL also announced plans to establish a battery gigafactory in India by 2026. This facility will cater specifically to electric vehicles (EVs) and will include a component for battery recycling as well. Rooted within the Dhirubhai Green Energy Giga Complex in Jamnagar, Gujarat, the factory will cover all end-to-end processes, from battery materials to batteries with "safe and reliable" performance, "high energy density," and "fast charging capabilities."
The announcement of the Jio Bharat Phone, designed to revolutionize the market and reduce dependence on outdated 2G phones, also drew attention during the meeting. Priced competitively at just Rs. 999, this super-affordable 4G feature phone garnered interest for its ability to facilitate movie streaming, music streamling, and digital payments. The Jio Bharat Phone comes equipped with a 1.77-inch display, 0.3MP camera, and a 1000mAh battery, expandable up to 128GB. The Jio Bharat Phone is a collaborative effort led by RIL and tech partner Karbonn.
The Jio Bharat Phone officially went on sale today, August 28th, 2023. More information about the other products and services hinted at during the meeting, such as the JioBook or the 5G expansion, is expected to be revealed in the near future.
