The Songwriter Features, currently in beta, allow composers to claim their profiles, share their stories, and showcase their catalogs. This includes a Songwriter Account label identifying them as songwriters and a Songwriter Music Tab spotlighting their written and co-written tracks.

With the launch of #BehindTheSong, TikTok is encouraging composers to share the personal tales that birthed their hits, deepening fan engagement by turning passive listening into an interactive journey. The new features are designed to foster storytelling about music and lives, addressing a longstanding industry gap where songwriters traditionally have lacked direct public visibility.

High-profile composers such as Lauren Christy, Toby Gad, and Justin Tranter have already claimed their Songwriter badges and Music Tabs, praising TikTok for letting them step from the shadows. MIDiA Research emphasized TikTok's central role in composers' social media strategies, with the majority of full-time songwriters already relying on the platform to build their brands.

Songwriters and publishers interested in early access can sign up via TikTok's regional waitlists for the US, EU, and beyond. The features were designed following feedback from 871 songwriters and complemented by MIDiA data showing TikTok's central role in music careers.

Collaborations between labels, brands, and songwriters can produce co-branded audio content, driving deeper connections while showcasing the craft behind the commerce. A 'New' tag highlights fresh releases, while the "Add to Music App" integration lets fans save discoveries directly to their streaming playlists.

The Songwriter Music Tab allows TikTok users to browse a composer's entire catalog, sample audio snippets, explore user-generated videos set to those songs, and dive into contextual content like studio demos, lyric breakdowns, or behind-the-scenes clips. The Songwriter Account label is a new profile badge that signals to fans and industry professionals that a profile is crafted by the person who wrote the music.
