TikTok Introduces Songwriter Features to Emphasize Credits and Enhance User Profiles on the App
TikTok has unveiled a new suite of tools aimed at empowering songwriters and music creators on its platform. The Songwriter Features, currently in beta, are designed to increase the visibility, recognition, and monetization opportunities for those behind the scenes in the music industry.
The features include a special Songwriter Account Label that will be displayed on creators' profiles, clearly identifying them as the songwriters of the music. This label will help fans recognise and connect directly with the creators, distinguishing them from performers or general content creators.
A centralised Dedicated Music Tab on each songwriter's TikTok profile will showcase all the songs they have written or co-written, serving as a portfolio and making their work easier to discover. This tab will support networking, help build credibility, and deepen connections with fans.
The features also aim to improve Recognition and Credit for songwriters, addressing previous challenges where they often remained uncredited or invisible. The new tools will expand their exposure and help them claim rightful credit for their contributions to popular tracks.
Songwriters can share stories about their work, music, and lives alongside their song catalog, increasing Fan Engagement. This will help them deepen connections with their audience and build a stronger community on the platform.
The features are also designed to expand Monetization Potential and open new professional opportunities by raising the profile of songwriters within TikTok. This is based on feedback from over 800 songwriters worldwide.
Initially available in closed beta, the Songwriter Features have already been adopted by experienced songwriters like Lauren Christy, Toby Gad, and Justin Tranter. This signifies TikTok's focus on quality and relevance in the feature’s early stage.
Songwriters and publishers who want to be part of the beta test should complete the TikTok Songwriter Features waitlist form. The features are launching today as a small-scale, closed beta with a limited number of publisher partners.
The new features, which include the #BehindTheSong campaign, the new music releases tag, and the Add To Music App feature, aim to give due credit to songwriters and their music on TikTok.
Industry leaders have expressed their support for the new features.
