Christmas Eve might be next Tuesday, but it doesn't feel like we're approaching that holiday these days. Usually, it's a bit chilly up in the mountains, but it's been incredibly beautiful out here lately. It's sort of reminiscent of a crisp spring. The hiking has been fantastic – not too hot, not too cold. Perfect, really.
It's the right temp for Wordle, too, so let's get going on this one!

I started off on a roll with TRAP. That reduced the remaining solutions to a mere 68. SCALD made short work of the rest, leaving me with just one remaining option: SHOWER for the win. Hooray!
Competing in Wordle
Whatever score you achieve, here's how it breaks down:
- Guessing in 1 earns 3 points; guessing in 2 earns 2 points; guessing in 3 earns 1 point; guessing in 4 earns 0 points; guessing in 5 earns -1 point; guessing in 6 earns -2 points, and missing the Wordle earns -3 points.
- If you best your opponent, you score 1 point. If you tie, you score 0 points. If you lose to your opponent, you score -1 point. Add it all up to get your total score. Keep a daily running total or simply play for a new score each day.
- Fridays are 2XP, meaning your points – positive or negative – are doubled.
- You can keep a running total or just play daily. Have fun!
Today's Wordle Origins
The word "shower" stems from Middle English scoulen, possibly derived from Old Norse "skūla", which means to be afraid or shy. That later evolved to refer to a threatening or angry look. It shares roots with Scandinavian languages.
