Ukraine Unveils New 40km Loitering Munition 'Zhuk' for Extended Reach
Ukraine has introduced a new long-range loitering munition, the 'Zhuk', developed by Atarna and manufactured by Ukrspetsexport. The Zhuk was showcased at the Brave1 public trials and has successfully completed final tests, boasting a strike range of over 40 kilometers.
The Zhuk is a catapult-launched, fixed-wing strike drone with a modular warhead, weighing roughly 1.8-2 kg, ideal for engaging light armor and electronic-warfare assets. It can operate with a relay UAV to extend its control and datalink range, achieving a recorded strike at 67 kilometers. Ukrainian developers showcased multiple new fixed-wing loitering munitions with similar capabilities during the trials.
The Brave1 platform frames these 40+ km systems as affordable and scalable additions to Ukraine's war toolkit. They are designed to survive and navigate through Russian electronic warfare, expanding Ukraine's range and capacity to engage targets at extended ranges.
The Zhuk, along with other long-range loitering munitions, is set to enhance Ukraine's military capabilities. These systems, developed within the Brave1 ecosystem, offer a cost-effective and scalable solution for engaging targets at extended ranges, providing a significant advantage in the ongoing conflict.
