Uranium Energy Corp Boosts Production, Acquires Rio Tinto Assets

Uranium Energy Corp (UEC) has made significant strides in 2025, expanding its uranium portfolio and boosting production. The company acquired Rio Tinto's Sweetwater Plant and Wyoming assets for $175 million, adding substantial resources and processing capacity. Meanwhile, UEC's stock rose despite missing revenue estimates, driven by operational progress and a strong balance sheet.

UEC's acquisition of Rio Tinto's assets included a processing plant with an annual production capacity of approximately 4.1 million pounds of uranium. This, coupled with the commencement of operations at two new in-situ recovery (ISR) mine units at Christensen Ranch in Wyoming, has significantly bolstered UEC's production capabilities in the Powder River Basin.

The company's strategic expansion was reflected in its inventory, which stood at 1.36 million pounds of uranium valued at $96.6 million as of July 31, 2025. This is set to increase further with an additional 300,000 pounds expected by December 2025, thanks to progress at the Burke Hollow project in Texas, which is 90% complete.

UEC's revenue for fiscal 2025 reached $66.84 million, falling short of Wall Street's estimate of $77.2 million. However, the company's shares rose 1.66% in pre-market trading due to operational advancements, strategic acquisitions, and a robust financial position. UEC closed the year with $321 million in cash, inventory, and equities, and no debt.

UEC's acquisition of Rio Tinto's Sweetwater Plant and Wyoming assets, along with operational expansions, has positioned the company as a significant player in the uranium industry. Despite a revenue miss, UEC's shares rose due to its operational progress and strong financial health. The company is well-placed to benefit from the growing demand for uranium, with its increased production capacity and substantial resource base.
