US, Vietnam Strengthen Tech Cooperation, Eye Emerging Fields
In a recent working session, US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc E. Knapper and Permanent Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Vu Hai Quan discussed deepening cooperation in science, technology, and digital transformation. The US expressed readiness to support Vietnam's Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, with both sides agreeing on the potential for socioeconomic growth and partnership enhancement.
The US is eager to engage with Vietnam in emerging technology areas, including critical minerals, new materials, nuclear energy, and low-earth orbit satellite networks. However, no specific US company was prominently highlighted for this cooperation. Instead, the focus was on US government support and general engagement of US companies in these fields with Vietnam.
The US is also willing to share its analysis on 11 strategic technologies already in use in Vietnam, as expressed by Deputy Minister Quan. Both sides agreed on the potential for deeper cooperation to support socioeconomic growth and strengthen the USA-Vietnam partnership.
Deputy Minister Quan welcomed the US commitment and emphasized Vietnam's focus on developing strategic technologies and building investment policies to create breakthroughs for domestic firms and attract foreign investors.
