Partnership to Boost Electric Mobility in the Philippines

In a significant move towards promoting green transportation, V-Green, Green GSM Philippines, and MERALCO have formed a partnership to develop the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem in the Philippines. The collaboration aims to accelerate EV adoption, primarily by deploying electric taxi services and establishing a public EV charging station network across major urban centers such as Metro Manila and other key cities.

The core objectives of this partnership include jointly identifying and evaluating locations for charging stations and taxi hubs, supporting the efficient roll-out of charging networks, and exploring scaling opportunities for EV usage. They also plan to co-develop solar energy solutions for EV charging, share technical expertise on EV technologies, and provide workforce training.

Dao Quy Phi, CEO of Green GSM Philippines, emphasizes the importance of robust infrastructure for public access to clean, safe, and environmentally friendly mobility. Nguyen Thanh Duong, CEO of V-Green, believes the partnership will create meaningful change in the Philippines' urban transportation landscape. Manuel V. Pangilinan, Chairman and CEO of MERALCO, states that the partnership will redefine cities and communities, reframing the way we think about energy, transport, and sustainability.

Green GSM, an electric ride-hailing platform, operates a fleet of electric vehicles powered entirely by VinFast. V-Green, on the other hand, serves as the exclusive charging infrastructure partner for VinFast electric vehicles in Vietnam. This partnership leverages V-Green's expertise in EV charging infrastructure, Green GSM's electric ride-hailing platform, and MERALCO’s strong local presence as the Philippines’ largest power distributor.

In addition to the traditional partnership approach, V-Green offers a franchising model for EV charging stations in the Philippines. This allows local landowners and businesses to operate stations without upfront investment while sharing revenues. This approach supports rapid infrastructure expansion with low entry barriers for local partners.

The potential benefits of this partnership include cost-effective and safer urban mobility, seamless travel experiences, environmental sustainability through green transportation, and laying a foundation for the country’s transition to a greener future. The partnership between V-Green, Green GSM Philippines, and MERALCO is set to drive green mobility and sustainable urban transportation solutions in the Philippines.
