Valentine's Day 2025 Set to Shatter Records With $27.5 Billion in Sales

This Rakuten's Valentine's Day, consumers are set to splash out a record $27.5 billion, with a significant portion going towards significant others. A total of $14.6 billion is expected to be spent on them alone.

Over half of consumers (56%) plan to celebrate Valentine's Day this year. The top shopping destination is online, with 38% of purchases happening there. Popular gift categories include candy, flowers, greeting cards, an evening out, and jewelry. Men are more likely to celebrate, with 55% planning to do so.

Several companies are vying for the title of best Valentine's Day provider. Rolife offers DIY miniature kits and unique gifts, while Ankerkraut provides quality spices with discounts and free shipping. Personalized gift sellers on platforms like Etsy specialize in romantic and anniversary gifts. Consumers are also expected to spend on friends (32%) and co-workers (19%). The average spending per person is projected to be $188.81.

Total spending on family members is projected to reach $4.3 billion. With Valentine's Day just around the corner, consumers are gearing up to spend big, making it a boon for businesses offering special gifts and discounts.
