Established in 2018 and quickly becoming a significant player in the XR community, the event showcases groundbreaking content and creative processes. Over the past three years, its mission has been to bring virtual worlds to life and to discover them. As we navigate the digital future, the festival's aims have never been more relevant!
Initially planned for June, the festival had to be postponed and reimagined to align with the current restrictions. But the team was far from deterred! This presented the perfect opportunity to innovate and offer an unparalleled experience. Whether you're a professional or simply curious, join us for a hybrid edition that combines the best of both worlds!
Pioneering the Future of XR
Since its inception, NewImages Festival has been at the forefront of the XR industry, constantly seeking out new trends and pushing boundaries. The festival aims to "spread new techniques" and make new forms of creation accessible to everyone.
Catering to both enthusiasts and professionals, the festival presents two programs: one for the general public and Industry Days (September 23-25) for professionals. The public can delve into this disquieting universe, enjoying XR experiences and live shows at the Forum des Images, under the Forum Canopy, and even specially curated programs for young audiences. Last year, more than 11,000 people explored the depths of the XR world at various locations in Paris.
A Tide of Immersive Experiences and International Conferences
The Renewed Success of Industry Days
NewImages Festival is a major player in the ocean of immersive events held worldwide each year. In particular, through its professional days, known as Industry Days, the event offers a rich program tailored to professionals in the XR industry.
These professional days provide a platform for XR experts to share insights, collaborate, and innovate. They also serve as a showcase for avant-garde projects and digital creations. Since its inception, NewImages Festival has been dedicated to highlighting experiences that explore new formats.
The hybrid version, both in-person and online, allows all professionals to attend conferences and benefit from the expertise of leading players in the XR industry. Many experts will be in attendance, including Fox Harrell (MIT), Colum Slevin (Facebook), Marc Petit (Epic Games), and many others. They will also have access to the networking space to connect and collaborate, both face-to-face and virtually. This year, the XR Financing Market is taking on a 100% digital form to ensure that project leaders and decision-makers are put in touch with each other.
Stimulating Reflection through Workshops
Professionals are invited to participate in workshops that promote reflection and practical application. Four workshops are being offered, focusing on the creation of immersive experiences and virtuality in the field of culture. The question being addressed in one such workshop is: "How can virtual experiences and spaces help museums and cultural venues reach new audiences and develop new income streams?"
One of these workshops is a collaborative project between our website and the festival. Titled "Design of experience: Imagination - Conception of other realities," it explores how to create an immersive experience based on our emotions. Judith Guez, creator and director of the art and virtual reality festival Recto VRso, will serve as moderator, along with Anaïs Bernard from UCO Angers. Judith is also participating in a conference on the themes of the body and immersion, along with three other digital artists. This theme resonates with her and was the focus of the latest virtual exhibition at Recto VRso.
Online Access for All
Doctor, nurse, or digital artist—in these challenging times, accessibility is key! To make the festival available to all XR professionals, NewImages has set up an online program. Conferences, pitching sessions, workshops, and special events will be accessible live and on-demand on the festival website. A virtual space is also available on VRChat, in partnership with VRrOOm. This space will serve as a networking hub for professionals. Visitors will also be able to explore the entire selection of immersive experiences for 2020, both online and in-person at the Forum des Halles.
