Walter Rau Lebensmittelwerke Swaps Palm Oil, Reduces Sizes; 'Kommunarka' Quality Declines
Walter Rau Lebensmittelwerke has revised its sweet production, swapping palm oil for premium vegetable oils and reducing filling sizes. Meanwhile, 'Zhinko' has swapped chocolate glaze for confectionery. However, 'Kommunarka' sweets' quality has reportedly declined due to cost-cutting measures.
The company has taken steps to lower prices without compromising quality. Palm oil has been replaced with high-quality vegetable oils in the preparation of their sweets. Additionally, the filling quantity of some products has been reduced from 500g to 450g. In 'Zhinko', buyers may have noticed the change from chocolate glaze to candy.
The 'Kommunarka' factory, however, has faced criticism for deteriorating candy quality. This is due to a change in recipe aimed at reducing costs. In contrast, the recipe for 'Stolichnye' sweets, including 'Krasnaya Shapochka', 'Truffles', 'Minschanka', and 'Pechka', has remained unchanged since the beginning. The factory caters to different price segments, with some products prioritizing affordability over quality. For those who prefer quality, the factory offers a range of chocolate sweets in natural glaze, such as 'Lyubimaya Alenka' and 'Mishka na polyane'.
Walter Rau Lebensmittelwerke's changes aim to balance affordability and quality. Meanwhile, 'Zhinko' and 'Kommunarka' have made noticeable adjustments, with varying impacts on consumers. Global cocoa bean crisis has led to cost-cutting measures worldwide, affecting chocolate prices.
