Workshops for AI with minimal requirements available to everyone in the coming days
The city of Wiesbaden is inviting individuals from all walks of life to explore the fascinating world of artificial intelligence (AI) through a diverse workshop series starting in September. The workshops will take place at the Zukunftswerk, Wiesbaden's innovation lab, located in the Luisenforum.
The AI workshop series is designed to provide simple and practical access to digital technologies, including AI. It aims to answer questions about how AI works and what it can do in everyday life. The approach of the series is based on proven methods from the Frankfurt department for citizens, digital, and international affairs.
The series offers a variety of programs catering to various age groups and interests. For children aged 8-12, the holiday camps are themed "City of the Future - Minecraft, Lego & Coding". Kindergarten children can participate in workshops titled "Discover AI, Robotics & Mobility in Kindergarten". School-aged participants can attend workshops titled "How does a machine think? - Discover AI creatively".
Adults, including kindergarten parents, students, seniors, and those in qualification or language programs, can attend workshops such as "Make everyday life easier with AI - Experience digital self-help" and "My idea for Wiesbaden" community idea-thons. There are also workshops specifically for women, such as "My story counts" and "AI café of cultures", which is open to all language levels.
Two parent afternoons focus on opportunities and risks of AI in child protection and everyday digital life. A family escape game is available for children around ten years old and older.
The series also includes AI.LAB exchange formats for professionals, freelancers, education actors, and coaches. Participation is free but requires registration.
Eileen O'Sullivan, Frankfurt's digital deputy mayor, expresses pleasure that their approaches are being adopted in Wiesbaden. She emphasizes the importance of the exchange between cities for successful digitalization. Maral Koohestanian, Deputy Mayor for Smart City, Europe, and Order, states that digital participation is a prerequisite for social justice in a modern city. She explains that the series aims to provide barrier-free access to AI, regardless of age, origin, language, or educational background.
The city of Wiesbaden encourages everyone to discover AI in these workshops, which will take place at the Zukunftswerk Wiesbaden, Kirchgasse 6 (Luisenforum, 2nd floor at the bridge). The series was developed in collaboration with various partners.
