World's Largest LED Virtual Production Volume Revealed by Absen and Versatile

In a groundbreaking development for the film and television industry, the world's largest monolithic LED virtual production stage has been launched in Deqing, Zhejiang. This innovative stage, jointly developed by Absen and Versatile Media, was unveiled on July 14, 2025, at the Versatile AI Virtual Film Base.

The stage features a 270-degree curved LED screen with a diameter of 50 meters and a height of 12 meters, covering approximately 1,700 square meters of LED display area - equivalent to the size of four standard basketball courts. The total floor area of the stage is about 5,000 square meters.

Key features of this LED virtual production stage include immersive 8K LED walls that provide realistic lighting and highly authentic shooting experiences. The stage allows for the recreation of complex, large-scale film and television scenes virtually, reducing the need for costly physical sets. Extremely fast scene changes, achievable within minutes, enhance production efficiency.

Advanced LED display technology supports HDR rendering, accurate color reproduction, high frame rates, and high refresh rates. The system comprises over 600 million pixels, offering immersive storytelling power. Technology designed to mitigate moiré and aliasing effects during close-up camera shooting ensures superior on-camera LED performance.

The project involved tackling key technical challenges, with the technical teams of both Absen and Versatile working closely together from early-stage planning to on-site installation and calibration. Absen provided LED displays and a comprehensive solution for the project, including core display technologies, expert engineering execution, color management, and full-process technical support.

Absen's LED virtual production solutions have been widely adopted in major markets including the United States, China, the United Kingdom, France, Russia, and Canada. Versatile Media, founded in 1993 and headquartered in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, has branches in Deqing, Beijing, and Vancouver. Versatile Media currently employs nearly 400 professionals.

This stage represents a significant innovation in virtual production technology, boosting visual immersion and streamlining content creation in ways traditional location shooting cannot match.
