Xbox Series console prices are increasing for a second time this year. Find out how much you'll pay for your gaming setup this autumn.
Microsoft has announced that it will be increasing the prices of its Xbox Series consoles starting October 3, 2022. The decision comes amidst an incredibly dynamic environment, with the company addressing the applicable impacts of the changing macroeconomic environment.
The price of the Xbox Series S 512GB will rise from its current price of $380 to $400. Similarly, the price of the Xbox Series X will increase from $600 to $650. For those seeking the Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition, the price will go up from $730 to $800.
The price increase also applies to the Xbox Series X Digital, which will cost $550 instead of its current $600, and the Xbox Series S 1TB, which will be priced at $450, up from its current $430.
However, for those who wish to purchase the Xbox Series X at its original price, there's still a chance. Until October 3, 2025, the console will be available at its original price primarily in regions outside the USA where Microsoft is not raising the price. In the USA, prices will increase starting October 3, 2025, as per Microsoft's announcement.
Until October 3, 2022, consumers can still purchase Xbox Series consoles at their current pricing from retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart.
In response to queries, a Microsoft spokesperson directed us to the Xbox support page for further comment. It's worth noting that the tariffs instituted by President Donald Trump have caused prices to increase for other video game hardware from Nintendo and Sony, indicating a broader trend in the industry.
Interestingly, the Xbox Series X was originally priced at $500 at launch, while the Xbox Series S 512GB was priced at $300. This price hike, therefore, represents a significant increase from the initial prices.
The price increases for Xbox Series consoles are a reflection of the changes in the macroeconomic environment, according to Microsoft. As the industry continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how these changes impact the gaming landscape in the future.
