Xbox's Grounded 2 astonishes with reaching a player count milestone barely two weeks post-launch, propelling on the wings of Xbox Game Pass success
Obsidian Entertainment, a subsidiary of Xbox Game Studios, has announced an exciting lineup of updates for its survival game, Grounded 2. The game, which is currently available in Early Access on Xbox Game Pass and Steam, has already surpassed three million players across its various platforms.
Fall 2025 Update
The Fall 2025 Update, expected to arrive between September and November, will introduce a new major boss to the park: AXL, a formidable tarantula. This update will also bring a host of new content related to AXL, including weapons, armor, furniture, and crafting recipes. Quality of life improvements, such as a building grid for precise placement, and the ability to use the Hotpouch on Buggies to access items more easily, are also part of this update. Additionally, the Fall Update will include additional language support for Japanese and Brazilian Portuguese.
Winter 2025 Update
The Winter 2025 Update is packed with exciting features. It will verify Grounded 2 for Steam Deck and introduce crossplay support between Steam Deck and other platforms via Microsoft account sign-in. Support for ROG Ally handheld device is also planned. A new "Playgrounds" mode will allow players to freely use items without the need for survival grinding.
New gameplay mechanics like Sour 2.0, PEEP.R 2.0, and coziness will be introduced. The update will also reveal a new hidden area of Brookhollow Park, expand biomes, introduce new insects, offer more equipment, and introduce cooking features.
Summer 2026 Update
The Summer 2026 Update will continue the early access roadmap with new areas and features. More details about this update will be revealed as we get closer to its release.
Future Updates
Each future update in Grounded 2 will add a new zone to Brookhollow Park, expanding the map. The water-themed update, planned for next summer, is one such example. Future updates will continue to improve all facets of the experience.
Availability and Cross-Progression
Grounded 2 is available to play on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and Steam. Xbox Play Anywhere support enables cross-progression between Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC versions of Grounded 2.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass can be used to purchase Grounded 2. Currently, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate 1-month memberships are available for $16.19 at CDKeys, a significant discount from its previous price of $19.99.
Grounded 2 offers the ability to tame and ride "Buggy" mounts like ants and spiders. The game topped Steam's Top Sellers chart for several days post-release and is larger than the original game was when it launched in full in 2022.
An official roadmap for future content updates in Grounded 2 has been shared by the developer, promising a wealth of new content and improvements for players to look forward to.
