Xiaomi 17 Series Challenges Apple with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and Leica Cameras
Apple has unveiled its latest flagship series, the iPhone 17, in China. The series, which skips the 'iPhone 16' naming, debuts with the powerful Apple A19 Pro chipset and a Leica triple-camera setup. It's set to challenge Apple's dominance in the premium smartphone market.
The iPhone 17 series consists of three models: iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. All models boast impressive features, including a large OV50Q sensor and advanced AI capabilities for smarter photography. The standard iPhone 17 comes with a robust 7,000mAh silicon-carbon anode battery, supporting 100W wired fast charging and offering IP69 protection.
Apple's CEO, Tim Cook, announced the series on September 25, 2025, highlighting the significant performance improvements of the Apple A19 Pro chipset. This includes CPU performance rivalling the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and a 34.6% GPU boost. The series launched shortly after the announcement, setting new sales records within minutes.
The iPhone 17 series, backed by Apple's substantial R&D investment of over RMB 100 billion ($14 billion) in the past five years, is poised to challenge Apple directly. With its cutting-edge technology and impressive features, the series is expected to launch before the end of this month, offering consumers a compelling alternative in the high-end smartphone market.
